Installing Plugins
Use the Installers
If your plugin comes with an installer then please use that. It will install the plugins directly into the plugins folder for your copy of Cinema 4D.
When using the installers they expect to find Cinema 4D at its default install location.
For windows users you have the option to select a different root folder to tell the installer where it should look for the Cinema 4D folders. By default this is set to "C:\Program Files\"
- On Windows
C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D 2024
- On macOS
/Applications/Maxon Cinema 4D 2024
If the installer can't find Cinema 4D at these locations then you will not be given the option to install the plugins for those versions.
After installation Restart Cinema 4D and you will now see your plugins under the Extensions menu in Cinema 4D.
Manual Installation
Add Folder in Preferences
- Unzip the folder onto your computer.
- Then from Edit->Preferences->Plugins choose 'Add Folder' and select the folder containing the unzipped plugin.
- Restart C4D and the plugin will now be loaded.
- You will now see your plugins under the Extensions menu in Cinema 4D.
Copy into the Preferences Plugins Folder
Cinema 4D also loads plugins from a plugins folder inside your user preferences. Each Cinema 4D version has its own preferences folder, so plugins placed there only load for that version.
- Unzip the folder onto your computer.
- In Cinema 4D go to Edit->Preferences and click Open Preferences Folder in the bottom left of the dialog. This opens the preferences folder for the version of Cinema 4D you currently have running.
- Copy the unzipped plugin folder into the
pluginsfolder. If a plugins folder does not exist yet, create one. - Restart C4D and the plugin will now be loaded.
- You will now see your plugins under the Extensions menu in Cinema 4D.
Typical locations:
- On Windows
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Maxon\Maxon Cinema 4D 2026_XXXXXXXX\plugins
- On macOS
/Users/<Username>/Library/Preferences/Maxon/Maxon Cinema 4D 2026_XXXXXXXX/plugins
The folder name includes a unique ID after the version number, so use Open Preferences Folder to make sure you have the correct one. On macOS the Library folder is hidden, which is another reason to open it from Cinema 4D rather than browsing there yourself.
Licenses
GameLogicDesign grants you the right to install and use a copy of the plugin on up to two computers, as long as only one installation is used at any given time. The plugins must be installed on a computer running a validly licensed copy of MAXON’s Cinema 4D. If you wish to use the plugin on more than one computer, at the same time, you must purchase an appropriate number of additional licenses.
Our plugins do not come with any license keys or license server checks.
